Bolusanthus speciosus Tree Wisteria

Nothing signals the start of Spring more than the sweet smell and beautiful cascading flowers of Wisterias. And the Tree Wisteria doesn’t disappoint! Loved by gardeners through Southern Africa for their cascading flowers, sweet fragrance and architectural shape. They are very rarely offered or seen in Australia. These slow growing Tree Wisteria are ideal for small or medium sized gardens. Making a spectacular small shade tree. And makes a fantastic street tree as it has a non invasive root system. Eventually reaching 4-6m (over 10-20years). They also make a spectacular mini tree in a pot on a sunny patio! And will still flower profusely in pots. They also make a striking Bosai!

They love full sun and a regular water to establish. But are very drought resistant once established. They flower for months over the spring and summer. Usually the months from August to January. They are  usually semi deciduous in our Sydney climate. Losing their leaves for a couple of weeks at the end of winter before flushing out new grow with flowers. In cooler areas they may be deciduous and can withstand moderate frosts.
Our plants are currently semi dormant in winter. At this time (mid winter) their leaves are quite yellow as we are getting regular frosts in the nursery. But they will be replaced with deep dark green leaves in spring. They are well rooted in 20cm pots. And ready to be planted to take off in spring!
For the perfect fertiliser, use Earthlife Flower Blend through the growing and flowering season to ensure an abundant supply of flowers.
