Petrea volubilis Tropical Wisteria Evergreen Wisteria
Petrea volubilis Tropical Wisteria Evergreen Wisteria has a number of common names. Purple Wreath Vine, Queens Wreath and Sandpaper Vine to name just a few! It is one of the most beautiful evergreen flowering vines or climbing plants! It’s native to Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia and Venezuela. While it is not a wisteria, it is often called the tropical wisteria or evergreen wisteria due to its colour and resemblance to a wisteria. It prefers full sun, but will grow in part shade. And it produces the most beautiful violet purple flowers. It flowering for months each year, from winter through summer. And puts on an amazing display.
Amazing uses for this plant are as a climber against walls, patios or over pergolas. Or with some pruning, train it as a shrub or into a standard. It even makes an amazing pot specimen, and can be trained into a bonsai.
