Citrus LimeQuat is a wonderful cold-hardy citrus tree that is great in the garden or in a pot. It will add fabulous winter colour to your garden with its brightly-coloured yellow fruit. You won’t have to wait long to enjoy these zesty and tasty fruit as this kumquat and key lime hybrid fruits from a quite young age. The sweet rind of the Citrus LimeQuat means you can enjoy the fruit whole fresh off the tree. It is also ideal for pickling, marmalades, or using in food dishes where lemons would be used. In cooler regions, the fruit will ripen yellow. And it makes a fantastic LimeQuat pie which is very popular in Florida where this citrus originated.
A small, bushy tree, it's perfect for a sunny balcony or courtyard. Trees can tolerate down to -6 degrees in winter. But certainly enjoy warmer climes. Citrus LimeQuat leaves are green and leathery, with small fruits that are produced in abundance, yellow in color and oval in shape with seeds inside. Its flavor is a mixture of the natural bitterness of the lime with sugars of the orange, making it edible without peeling or you can prepare juices with it since this fruit provides a significant amount of vitamin C.
