This distinctive hardy plant produces beautiful red and green foliage all year round and is one of the easiest among the protea family to grow. A wonderful plant for a range of conditions for coastal to mountainous regions. Crackerjack Red loves a well drained soil in a sunny or full sun position. Flowering occurs in winter through to late spring. This already colourful plant intensifies its red colouration through this period. And small fluffy white flowers appear amongst its foliage. providing a spectacular show, and attracting a wide range of Honeyeater Birds.

A fantastic landscaping plant for a range of gardens, including modern gardens and coastal gardens. Growing 1.5m H x 1m W it is easy to keep below 1m height with a prune. It makes a fabulous architectural pot plant. It is low maintenance and drought resistant once established. Tolerates light frosts and Coastal conditions.

Proteas are sensitive to Phosphorous in fertiliser. For best results we recommend using Garden Delight Rock Minerals at planting and in place of a fertiliser.
