Osmanthus fragrans Orange Supreme
Osmanthus fragrans Orange Supreme
Nothing lights up the winter garden like the soft and beautiful fragrance of Osmanthus. The delightful perfume of this plant is reminiscent of apricot, and softly wafts on the breeze all through its flowering season of summer, autumn and winter. Osmanthus is used as a fragrance in perfumes and soaps. The flowers are also used in a millet and sorghum gruel, and all sorts of deserts and breakfasts as a perfumed flavouring such as the yogurt breakfast pictured above. And it’s most popular use of flowers infused in a number of special teas in China. You will most certainly identify its smell, before you identify the plant it is coming from. The tiny flowers are nondescript, but form in masses and clusters all along the stems of this plant.
This fantastic evergreen plant can be used as a stand alone shrub, as an informal:hedge, or in a pot. It grows best in full sun to part shade. But will still grow slowly in shady positions. Position where you can best appreciate its fragrance. Near to an outdoor patio, garden bench or window.
Our plants large and are in 200mm pots and stand over 0.5m to 1m tall. They may need to be pruned back for postage if too tall.
