Protea Pink Ice
Protea Pink Ice
One of the hardiest of all Proteas. And an ideal choice for Australian gardens. This resilient plant thrives in low-maintenance settings, producing vibrant deep pink flowers from autumn onwards. A magnet for native nectar loving birds (even though it is an exotic!), it provides a valuable food source in late autumn, winter and early spring. Wonderful pine flowers are long lasting and add much needed colour to the winter garden. They also make a fabulous cut flower. And a wonderful dried flower.
Well-suited to a range of garden styles, Protea Pink Ice adds striking colour and texture throughout the seasons. With its strong, drought-tolerant nature, Frost tolerance, and adaptability to a range of soils and climates, it is perfect for gardeners seeking a hardy, low-care plant. One that will reward with spectacular flowers, both fresh and dried.
Growing 2.5m H x 2m W they make a fantastic specimen shrub or informal hedge. We prune our plants hard after flowering, to keep our Special Pink Ice at a size around 1-1.5m.
Proteas are sensitive to Phosphorous in fertiliser. For best results we recommend using Garden Delight Rock Minerals at planting and in place of a fertiliser.
