Billardiera scandens Apple Berry (West Pennant Hills Form)
This native fruiting climber is a selection from West Pennant Hills in Sydney with larger and sweeter fruit than the commonly available form. Low maintenance, it can be used as a ground cover or a climber. And can be grown well in pots.
Clusters of bell shaped flowers white, cream or soft pink flowers form throughout spring. Followed by oval shaped fruit. Starting green or burgundy green, and ripening to a paler creamy yellow colour. They have a flavour similar to kiwi or stewed apple. Eaten raw when ripe, or roasted when green.
Tolerant of a wide range of conditions they can be grown in part sun, full sun or dappled shade.
