Fuchsia procumbens Creeping Fuchsia

This Creeping Fuchsia is a wonderful ground cover fuchsia originally hailing from New Zealand. With the most unusual flowers that are quite unlike that of traditional fuchsias. Interestingly it can produce three types of flowers. Male, female and hermaphroditic flowers. It makes a wonderful ground cover in the garden. And a fabulous hanging basket specimen.

Sadly, it is a threatened species in its native range. But  interestingly makes a wonderful garden plant that tolerates a wide range of conditions in our Australian gardens. And it’s this ability to grow so well in gardens and the nursery trade that may well save this species from being added to the endangered list.

It grows pest in part sun, or morning sun with protection from the hot afternoon sun. But will tolerate conditions from full shade to full sun. Keep it moist in the summer months. And use it as a ground cover, or cascading over a retaining wall, pot or hanging basket.

for best results use Garden Delight rock minerals as a fertiliser on your Creeping Fuchsia.
