Hibbertia scandens Trailing Guinea Flower - West Pennant Hills Form

Hibbertia scandens Trailing Guinea Flower is a tough hardy native from South-eastern Queensland down to Eastern Victoria. Our form is local to West Pennant Hills in Sydney, and has fantastic lush green foliage, and a much denser growing habit than many other varieties. It makes a fantastic ground cover or wonderful small climber in shady to sunny positions. Growing to approx 1.5 to 2m. Its bright yellow flowers contrast sharply with its lush green foliage and are a wonderfully cheerful sight to behold. Flowering through late winter, spring and into early summer. One of its best attributes is its ability to flower profusely no mater the light conditions, even in heavy shade!

When growing as a ground cover it benefits from a light prune. And will form a dense bushy low ground cover to approx 20-30cm high  x 1.5m wide. It is not a thug in the garden and is unlikely to smother other plants. And can be used in positions from heavy shade to full sun.

As a climber, this plant will reach approx 2m. And can be used on fence, wall, post, pillars, or garden obelisks. While a strong grower, it is far less vigorous than many other climbers. And requires minimal work to maintain.

It also makes a fantastic hanging basket plant. Which is how you will often see it in our nursery, cascading out of hanging baskets in shady to sunny positions.

For best results, we feed our plants regularly with Earthlife Garden Delight Rock Minerals
